BIOGRAPHY
“One of the hottest country bands to come out of central Illinois. Their vocals, unique style, & high energy have quickly become a big attraction.” –Pat Keating, Owner- Boondocks “ACM’s 2016 Nightclub of the year”
Lick Creek is a meshing of 6 rock and country musicians. Clint Brockmeyer-Lead Guitar/Harmonica/Mandolin, Ryan King-Lead Guitar/Banjo/Mandolin, Jimmy Cloney-Bass and Vocals, Maddie Brown-Acoustic and Lead Vocals, Bob Bryant-Drums, Lance Stone-Lead Vocals. Putting their love for both genres into one sound, that has been making a buzz since the first show. They have performed in their home state of Illinois, and all over the Midwest.
Founded in 2013 by Lance Stone, Lick Creek had the vision that covers would lead the way to originals which were the ultimate goal. In March of 2014, Maddie was added as a female counterpart. Within two months, their unique sound had them opening for many national acts like David Nail, Aaron Lewis, Steel Woods, Cody Jinks and many more. Feeling the urge to be the headliner and not the opener, they wrote their very first original ‘Bend’.
Fast forward to early 2017, they recorded their first EP. The EP single ‘Let Me Be’ got them a little national notoriety when they entered ‘Nash Next’ competition put on by Cumulus Radio Group & Big Machine Records. In a 5 month long process, they made it down to 10 bands out of 1750 national acts. The finals were held in Nashville, Tn at the Wildhorse Saloon. The judges consisted of big names like Desmond Child, Kix Brooks, Scott Brochetta, and Brantley Gilbert. Kix Brooks was especially pleased with them and had nothing but good words about their future as a band.
With the small but exciting success they had on the first EP Lick Creek was ready to make a new album. In the fall of 2018 they hit the studio and started creating ‘Too Damn Country’. After 9 months of hard work the album was released on June 14, 2019 to an excited fan base. With multiple music videos already released, the band is working hard to make sure you take a dip in the cool waters of Lick Creek.
Lick Creek brings a unique sound to today’s pop country dominated world. They add some classic 70’s rock/southern rock and mesh it with a swampy blues and country sound. They are paying homage to the greats who pioneered outlaw country, and new artists like Eric Church and Blackberry Smoke. Add to that, powerful male and female vocals, incredible 3 part harmonies, exceptional musicians and a stage presence and energy like no other, you get what folks call one of the best country bands they’ve seen.
